sudo x11vnc -storepasswd /etc/x11vnc.passwd VNC security is lacking, so this is optional. X11vnc configuration I use on kubuntu 18.04 & 20.04 using x11 the default NOT wayland This is absolutely not an acceptable solution.Ĭan someone point me to a tutorial where this is explained for a clean install for idiots like me? I cannot believe that in 2020 a simple VNC-config for a dedicated desktop-system could be such a hassle. I've found in official kubuntu-forums threads where people just say one should use proprietary Teamviewer. On windows this is a 1-Minute-Configuration. I am able to connect to something, but i either see only a grey desktop with a cross as mousecoursor and after some seconds there is a crash-warning shown or i see the black KDE Plasma splashscreen also for some seconds and then it also crashes. At last with the settings given for previous kubuntu-versions. I've tried tightvncserver, tigervncserver (x0vncserver), x11vnc and every other solution i could find using google. So i can help with Steam-Proton-Settings and so on. I want to login in the actual session that is viewable on the screen. I just want to achieve one simple thing: Connect remotely to a desktop-computer with newest kubuntu i have set up for a familymember to do support.
